She is actively involved in campus life as a university orientation leader, tutor, and member of the Queen\u2019s Mine Rescue Team. <\/p><p>During the summer, Katie works as an undergraduate research assistant in the Critical Minerals Processing Lab under the supervision of Dr. Charlotte Gibson. Her research focuses on lithium flotation, particularly the processing of low-grade spodumene ores and the factors influencing spodumene flotation kinetics. She is also conducting a side study on mica flotation and the challenges associated with mica removal during lithium beneficiation.  <\/p><p>Katie is passionate about optimizing sustainable mining and mineral extraction processes. La bourse financera une br\u00e8ve visite de quatre \u00e0 six jours sur diff\u00e9rents lieux de travail (un laboratoire d&rsquo;essais m\u00e9tallurgiques, une soci\u00e9t\u00e9 d&rsquo;ing\u00e9nierie et un site d&rsquo;exploitation).<\/p><p>Le prix n&rsquo;est pas d\u00e9cern\u00e9 en esp\u00e8ces, mais sa valeur mon\u00e9taire devrait se situer entre 2 500 et 3 000 dollars par laur\u00e9at (sous r\u00e9serve des frais de voyage au moment de la remise du prix). Le lieu des visites d\u00e9pendra du lieu de r\u00e9sidence de l&rsquo;\u00e9tudiant s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9.
