Andr\u00e9 Phillion is a Professor and ArcelorMittal Dofasco Endowed Chair in Ferrous Metallurgy in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at McMaster University, Canada.<\/p>

Research in his group focuses on understanding how processing conditions\u2014particularly during solidification\u2014control microstructural evolution and defect formation in metallic materials. Core expertise includes industrial solidification and transport phenomena, with applications spanning [continuous casting of steel to metal additive manufacturing. <\/p>

A central aspect of this work is the use of advanced and correlative materials characterization techniques, including in-situ high-temperature confocal microscopy and multi-modal 3D X-ray tomography, to study microstructural evolution, defects, and phase transformations under realistic processing conditions.<\/p>

He is actively engaged with the international materials science community through collaborations with academic groups, national laboratories, and industry, as well as through leadership roles on technical and research-review committees. His work spans multiple material systems and length scales, integrating experimental and modeling approaches to provide a broad perspective on applied materials processing. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
