Materials Joining (CAMJ), University of Waterloo, specializing in advanced welding and joining technologies. Her research focuses on the metallurgical study of robotic laser brazing for advanced high-strength steels and hybrid laser-arc welding of pipeline steels for the energy sector. She also explores innovative multidisciplinary applications, including water-enabled electricity generation using nanomaterials.<br>As an accomplished researcher, Xiaoye has published over 10 first-author papers in high-impact journals. Her academic excellence has been recognized through several prestigious honors, including the NSERC Canada Graduate Research Scholarship and the Ontario Graduate Scholarship.<br>Beyond research, Xiaoye is a dedicated leader in the materials community. The award recipient is also eligible for a $500 travel grant for the Annual Conference of Metallurgists to receive their award, so long as the distance is above 500KM. Only one award will be made to a given individual in the course of their Ph.D. program. In general, students travelling East-West will receive approximately $800 and those travelling within central Canada (Ontario\/Quebec) will receive approximately $500. No travel receipts will be required as the amount will be paid as a stipend, not a reimbursement. Therefore, the student recipients can allocate this fund to travel costs or meal costs, at their discretion.
