University of British Columbia Okanagan, where he conducts research in the High Performance Powertrain Materials Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Dimitry Sediako. He holds a BASc in Mechanical Engineering from UBC Okanagan, graduating top of his class with multiple distinctions and awards, including the CSME Gold Medal.<br>His research focuses on hydrogen embrittlement and the mechanical performance of metallic materials in hydrogen-rich environments, particularly in pipeline systems, additively manufactured components, and hydrogen-diesel co-combustion engines. Using high-pressure hydrogen testing alongside microstructural characterization and fracture analysis, he evaluates hydrogen-induced changes in mechanical response and fracture behavior to inform material selection and engineering design for hydrogen-based energy infrastructure.<br>Matthew has co-authored peer-reviewed publications on hydrogen embrittlement in structural alloys and has developed advanced experimental systems for high-pressure hydrogen testing. Le laur\u00e9at est \u00e9galement admissible \u00e0 une subvention de voyage de 500 $ pour assister au congr\u00e8s annuel des m\u00e9tallurgistes et recevoir sa bourse, \u00e0 condition que la distance soit sup\u00e9rieure \u00e0 500 km. Une seule bourse sera attribu\u00e9e par personne durant son programme de ma\u00eetrise.   Une m\u00eame personne ne peut d\u00e9tenir plus d&rsquo;une bourse au sein de MetSoc et de ses sections techniques au cours d&rsquo;une ann\u00e9e donn\u00e9e. One award shall be made each year. However, the Award Committee may decide not to make an award if a suitable recipient is not identified. Pour prendre sa d\u00e9cision, le Comit\u00e9 des prix de la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de m\u00e9tallurgie et des mat\u00e9riaux examinera l\u2019excellence et\/ou le potentiel de recherche et d\u2019enseignement du candidat et s\u00e9lectionnera ce dernier en fonction de ses r\u00e9alisations d\u00e9montr\u00e9es et de son potentiel de contribution significative au domaine. Les prix sont remis lors du congr\u00e8s annuel des m\u00e9tallurgistes (COM). La MetSoc prend \u00e9galement en charge les frais de participation \u00e0 ce congr\u00e8s.  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>L&rsquo;inscription \u00e0 la conf\u00e9rence est gratuite pour les laur\u00e9ats.<\/li>\n<li>L\u2019h\u00e9bergement pendant toute la dur\u00e9e de la conf\u00e9rence est assur\u00e9 par MetSoc aux b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiaires dans l\u2019un des h\u00f4tels partenaires.<\/li>\n<li>Les frais de d\u00e9placement sont subventionn\u00e9s par MetSoc en fonction de la distance parcourue par l&rsquo;\u00e9tudiant. En g\u00e9n\u00e9ral, les \u00e9tudiants voyageant d&rsquo;est en ouest recevront environ 800 $ et ceux voyageant dans le centre du Canada (Ontario\/Qu\u00e9bec) environ 500 $. Aucun justificatif de frais de d\u00e9placement ne sera exig\u00e9, car il s&rsquo;agit d&rsquo;une allocation et non d&rsquo;un remboursement. Les \u00e9tudiants b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiaires peuvent donc utiliser cette somme \u00e0 leur guise pour couvrir leurs frais de d\u00e9placement ou de repas.
