Mandate
The overall mandate of the Committee is to provide financial and strategic guidance to MetSoc with particular attention to:
Finances:
- To evolve MetSoc’s business model to strengthen the organization as it faces an uncertain and changing metallurgy and materials landscape
- To support continuity and communication in existing sponsor relationships and explore opportunities to engage new sponsors
- To provide guidance on the coordination of MetSoc sponsorship efforts with the CIM Sponsorship program
Strategy:
- Identify potential technical and management trends suitable for inclusion in COM or the basis for standalone MetSoc events
- Provide strategic business guidance to MetSoc
- Provide advice and suggestions on succession planning
- Initiate and execute business development projects, to create new revenue streams or enhance existing ones
- Support MetSoc to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with CIM

The standing Committee will consist of a minimum of six and maximum of ten members including:
- MetSoc President as chair
- 1st VP as Vice-Chair
- Two or three Past Presidents of the Society including the immediate past President
- One to four members selected from the MetSoc membership
- MetSoc Managing Director
- MetSoc Treasurer
- MetSoc Sponsorship Chair
