Volunteer at MetSoc
MetSoc would not be the strong, internationally known organization without the support, expertise and generosity of our volunteers.
As a not-for-profit organization, MetSoc of CIM depends on its volunteers to build a safe, inclusive and diverse community in the minerals industry. MetSoc has twelve technical & standing committees- each one is led by and made up of volunteers. In addition, all our events and conferences are led by members in our field.
Volunteering is a great way to network with your community, engage with new members and give back to the next generation of engineers. The volunteer program is a member benefit and allows individuals to sign up for projects based on their interests and availability.
Volunteer Positions
There are a number of ways one can volunteer with CIM and MetSoc. Whether you are an industry professional, student, recent graduate, professor, retired engineer, there is always an opportunity to be part of the community.
Here are some examples of volunteer positions:
- Member of a technical or standing committee
- Conference organizing committee
- Peer reviewer
- Award committee

Nominations are requested by March 15, 2025.
The following position is available for new terms on the MetSoc Board of Directors:
- Vice-president to President (Host of COM 2028, term 2025-2030)
- All candidates shall be members of the Society.
- All nominations must be accompanied by a biography.
